LakeWood's Physical Therapy provides services aimed at preventing the onset and slowing the progression of conditions resulting from injury, disease, and other causes. Physical Therapists provide services to people of all ages who have functional conditions resulting from back and neck injuries, sprains or strains, and fractures, arthritis, burns, amputations, stroke, multiple sclerosis, birth defects, work related injuries, sports injuries and others. A Physical Therapist is an expert in the examination and treatment of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular problems that affect peoples' abilities to move the way they want and function as well as they want in their daily lives. Physical Therapists work in conjunction with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, speech and occupational therapists, and restorative aides, and others to provide complete health care.
For people with health problems resulting from injury or disease, physical therapists assist in the recovery to make them stronger, relieve pain, and help regain use of an affected body part or relearn activities of daily living such as ROM, walking, lifting, or performing work activity. Physical Therapists teach patients and their families what to do so that healing continues throughout their daily lives at home. Physical Therapists also work on prevention to help keep people well and safe from injury by teaching the importance of fitness, postures and body mechanics, and showing people how to avoid hurting their bodies during work or play, design and supervise individualized conditioning programs, promote optimal physical performance, and help health conscious people to increase their fitness level, core strength, and endurance.
Our Physical Therapists are experienced in providing services to people with conditions such as low back pain, neck pain, problems with balance or coordination, knee ankle and foot problems, wound care including diabetic wounds and burns, muscle sprains and strains, arthritis, joint replacement surgeries, stroke rehab, pre and post natal programs, hip fractures, occupational health, incontinence issues, and fitness and wellness education.
